Eiffel Tower

In February of 1999 I made my first attempt at a large sculpture. Our church had a missionary speaker from France, so I agreed to build an Eiffel Tower. Our foyer is 10 feet high, so I designed it to 1/100th scale (the real one is just under 1000 feet).

Each of the four legs is the same, beginning with an outer frame in goldenrod yellow, reinforced with a webbing in chocolate brown.

All four legs assembled for the base

Completed structure. Next time, I'll know to be more precise in getting parts sized equally. Still, it looked fairly decent for about a week.

Then I decided to have a little fun with it.

All told, there were 135 balloons in the original tower. Repairs during the week and the added figures on the top added a few more.
